Safety FAQs

ISAPS has compiled the following general safety information related to Cancun hotel zone - the location of our World Congress. Please refer to your local government regulations and recommendations with respect to advice on travel from your country of residence to any overseas conference destination.

Cancun operates as a stable and well-managed tourism destination with normal airport, hotel, and transportation services.

Authorities maintain a strong security presence, particularly in the Hotel Zone, airports, and major tourist areas.

Cancun is one of Mexico’s most established and heavily protected international conference and tourism destinations, classified as “Exercise Increased Caution by the U.S. Department of State (other exercise increased caution cities are: London, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Bangkok, Abu Dhabi, among others).

As in any major cities around the world, travelers should remain aware of their surroundings, follow local and organizer guidance, and avoid unnecessary risks, particularly late at night and outside designated tourist areas.

Cancun benefits from visible National Guard and Tourism Police patrols in key visitor areas, such as the hotel zone where the ISAPS World Congress is located.

All conference venues and partner hotels have professional security protocols in place. The hotel zone, where the ISAPS Congress will be held, is among the most closely monitored areas, with police patrols, controlled access, and private security at hotels and convention centers.

Our local event partners maintain direct communication with authorities to ensure attendee safety.

Emergency contact details and on-site support will be provided upon check-in.

The same measures you’d take in any major tourist destination (watch belongings, be mindful at night, use registered taxis, etc.) apply here.

  • Follow standard travel precautions: stay aware of your surroundings, use registered taxis, Uber, or hotel-arranged transportation, and keep personal belongings secure.
  • Monitor your drinks when enjoying nightlife and avoid accepting beverages from strangers.
  • Use reputable pharmacies if purchasing medications and consider bringing any required prescriptions from home.
  • Carry comprehensive travel insurance, as private hospitals in Mexico may require upfront payment.

  • Local Emergency Services: 911
  • Hotel/Conference Security Desk: Provided at registration
  • Your Country’s Embassy/Consulate: Check your individual country travel registry for details.

Cancún is a secure and well-prepared destination for international congresses. Delegates who stay in official accommodations, use authorized transportation, and follow standard personal safety practices can expect a safe and comfortable experience.
