This month, we recognize United Nations World Humanitarian Day on August 19 and are pleased to feature our 2026 ISAPS Humanitarian Award recipient in the August E-Magazine.
We recently established the ISAPS Humanitarian Award to honor individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and made a profound, enduring impact through outreach initiatives, showing compassion, integrity, and global responsibility toward patients and communities.

We are honored to announce our first winner, Dr. Gottfried Lemperle (Germany), who has been selected as this year’s recipient. He is the founder of INTERPLAST-Germany e.V., an organization that provides free plastic and reconstructive surgery to individuals in developing countries and crisis regions. We invite you to learn more in the interview featured in this month’s President’s E-Magazine.
Please join us at the ISAPS World Congress in Cancún, Mexico, where he will receive his award! Congratulations, Dr. Gottfried Lemperle!
We also want to take this opportunity to congratulate Drs. Andre Borsche (Chairman of INTERPLAST-Germany e.V.) and Tomas Kempny, who were recognized for their outstanding contributions and dedication to humanitarian causes.
The next opportunity to submit nominations will open in 2027.
In addition to honoring our winner, we are excited to share news of our latest humanitarian and educational partnership with Operation Smile Mexico and the Fundación Cancún Center. This collaboration will provide up to 50 children, adolescents, and adults with cleft lip and/or palate from Quintana Roo with free reconstructive surgery at Hospital Joya Cancún in October 2026.
