ISAPS Humanitarian Collaboration with Operation Smile Mexico:
Stronger Together
We are pleased to announce our recent collaboration with Operation Smile Mexico and the Fundación Cancún Center. This educational and humanitarian campaign establishes a foundation for a long-term partnership that integrates international surgical expertise with local infrastructure and logistics to improve outcomes for vulnerable patients with cleft lip and/or palate in southeastern Mexico, where the incidence rate (1 in 450 births) surpasses the national average. The initiative further seeks to strengthen the local healthcare system through education, training, and ongoing collaboration.

Launching just ahead of the 2026 ISAPS World Congress in October, this collaboration will open new possibilities for up to 50 children, adolescents, and adults from Quintana Roo living with cleft lip and/or palate. They will receive free reconstructive surgery at Hospital Joya Cancún, where every procedure will meet the highest international standards for patient safety and quality of care.
