Code of Conduct

ISAPS is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment in which all participants and staff are treated with respect.

When attending ISAPS Olympiad World Congress 2025, Singapore

Participants are expected to abide by this statement. This includes any accompanying events, meetings or social gatherings which may be official or unofficial. To create that environment, participants are expected to maintain suitable standards of behavior.  

Policy Details

This statement applies to all event participants including employees, attendees, exhibitors, speakers, volunteers, guests, committee members, members and contractors.

Unacceptable behavior includes but is not limited to:
• unwanted physical conduct – such as unnecessary touching, patting, pinching or brushing against another person's body.
• unwanted verbal conduct – such as unwelcome advances; patronizing titles or nicknames; offensive or insulting comments; propositions or remarks; innuendo; lewd or suggestive comments.
• unwanted non-verbal conduct – such as racially or sexually-based graffiti or graffiti referring to an individual's characteristics or private life; abusive or offensive gestures; leering, whistling, creation, distribution or display of suggestive or offensive pictures, objects or written materials or videos through any means. 
• sustained disruption of talks or other events – such as heckling, interrupting presentation or speech. Abuse of the ‘chat’ facility.
• bullying – includes unwanted physical contact or assault but also verbal bullying such as insulting or threatening comments; comments intended to undermine, belittle, embarrass or humiliate the recipient.
• virtual bullying – includes distribution of unwanted emails, texts, images or humiliating data published on slides, social networking internet sites or abusing our technology.
• conduct of a sexual nature – includes unwanted physical, verbal and non-verbal conduct as discussed above; further examples include displaying pornographic or explicit images, indecent exposure, emails with sexual content, sexual innuendo, sexual solicitation and sexual assault.
• coercion – including threats of dismissal or loss of promotion etc. for refusal of sexual (or other) favors (or promises made in return for sexual or other favors); pressure to participate in political or religious groups etc. 
• not seeking proper consent from the presenter or attendee – by capturing video, audio, photographs, slides or presentations without permission from the author or attendee.

What to do if you are the subject of harassment or see someone else being harassed?

1. If you are comfortable doing so, inform the harasser that their conduct is unwelcome.
2. Contact a member of ISAPS senior staff team immediately to report the incident so that it can be investigated and appropriate action taken. Staff can be identified by their name badge or staff team t-shirt and should be asked to identify the most senior staff member in attendance.
3. If a participant is in immediate danger, venue security or local law enforcement should be informed promptly, before notifying ISAPS.

When notified of individuals who are engaging or who have engaged in harassing behavior, ISAPS may take any action they deem appropriate, following the relevant disciplinary process policy where applicable, which may range from a warning to expulsion from the current and/or future ISAPS meetings and events or, in the case of ISAPS employees or members, taking appropriate disciplinary action.
