- Define gynecomastia and differentiate it from pseudogynecomastia and lipomastia.
- Understand the embryology, anatomy and hormonal physiology of the male breast, and identify common etiological factors and classification systems (e.g., Simon’s classification).
- Perform a comprehensive clinical assessment, including history, examination and relevant investigations, to select appropriate candidates for surgical correction based on severity and etiology.
- Describe different surgical approaches and techniques (liposuction, excision, combined) and discuss incision placement options (periareolar, transareolar, lateral chest).
- Demonstrate safe intraoperative techniques to minimize complications, and apply principles of postoperative care, compression garment use and scar management.
- Recognize and manage early and late complications, review aesthetic refinements and secondary correction strategies, and interpret patient expectations and counseling principles for realistic outcomes.
