What You Need to Know

Becoming a mentor with ISAPS is a unique opportunity to give back to the profession, inspire the next generation of surgeons, and strengthen your own leadership and teaching skills while expanding your professional network across the globe.

As a mentor, you will:

  • Support mentees in setting and achieving meaningful goals through structured guidance.

  • Develop your teaching, coaching, and leadership skills.

  • Gain recognition within ISAPS as a valued contributor to education, patient safety, and international collaboration.

  • Build meaningful international connections with emerging surgeons.

  • Benefit from a flexible, primarily virtual structure that ensures accessibility, with the option to arrange in-person visits if both the mentee and mentor agree.

As an ISAPS Mentor, you will play a vital role in guiding and supporting Resident and Associate Members in their career development. This means being available for regular meetings, offering constructive feedback, sharing your knowledge and experience, and helping your mentee set and achieve meaningful goals.

Professionalism, confidentiality, and open communication are essential to building a successful mentoring relationship.
