Education Council History - Leo Bornstein Library

At the EXCO September 8, 1974 in Barcelona(99) it was approved to appoint Travelling Professors to serve during the next terms.

On February 15, 1980(75), the Executive Foundation of the ISAPS honored Dr. Leo A. Bornstein with a plaque and testimonial letter, presented by Sanford Glanz and James W. Smith in recognition to his contributions to the ISAPS as Charter Member and Chairman of the Local Arrangement Foundation of the Second Congress in Israel. Dr. Bornstein passed away on April 6, 1980, after a short illness.

On Sunday May 31, 1981(76,100), the Leo Bornstein Memorial Library was dedicated at the Chaim-Sheba Medical Center in Tel-Hashomer, Israel. Dr. Bornstein’s personal collection on Plastic Surgery was donated to the library by his family and the ISAPS voted to contribute both books and money to this library and to establish it as the first Aesthetic Library of a series of member libraries on Aesthetic Plastic Surgery over the world. Several members of the Society and mainly of the Executive Foundation contributed with publications as well as with donations of approximately US $10,000. After lengthy discussions, the Society decided to contribute with US $7,500(101,102,76,77,81).
