Boy, men can be stubborn sometimes, right?
It’s a bit of a stereotype, but many men can be very tight-lipped on how they feel about their aging looks. They worry that they might come off as vain, or self-obsessed, or they just don’t want to complain. But still, it genuinely bothers them to look in the mirror every morning and see a few more wrinkles, or rougher skin, or a little extra fat they just can’t get rid of. They don’t want to say anything, so they don’t bother looking for solutions.
If you’re someone who is starting to have trouble recognizing the man in the mirror, or you are someone who knows a man who is obviously getting a little more self-conscious about his age, there are many plastic surgery procedures and cosmetic techniques they could give them the results they want.
Let’s take stubborn fat, for example. As we get older, it gets harder to keep the fat away from certain areas of our body, such as love handles, and under the chin or the thighs. It doesn’t matter how much you diet, those pockets of fat just will not go away. What’s a man to do? A man can get liposuction! Liposuction has been one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures for the last 30 years and for good reason. It’s a safe and effective surgery with just a few weeks of recovery time. Liposuction technology has greatly advanced since the 80s, giving plastic surgeons today an even greater level of precision. If you’re a man who misses his 20-year-old body, it’s still there. You just need to get rid of those fat cells to reveal it!
Since we are getting rid of those fat cells, maybe we can do something with them? One of the major causes of visible aging is a lost of subcutaneous fat in our faces. This fat helps keep the skin lifted and keeps your face from looking hollow and older. We can use dermal fillers to restore this volume, but some men want a more natural option. That is where Fat Transfer comes in. By taking fat cells from other parts of your body and injecting them into the face (think reverse liposuction) we can restore that lost volume and give you back that youthful look. This is a minimally invasive surgery that can make a huge difference in your appearance. Of course, there are other, non-surgical cosmetic procedures that can also help rejuvenate an aging face.
Rough skin is something that affects us all. It can’t be helped. Our skin is literally a protective layer, the organ that keeps bad things out. It can take one heck of a beating over the years, with a buildup of dead skin, scarring, sun damage, sunspots, and more. Even if you grow a beard to hide some of it, your damaged skin is going to put years on your actual age. Thankfully, this one is a super easy fix! A chemical peel can turn back the clock on your skin, removing the top layer of rough, damaged skin to reveal the younger, tighter skin beneath. You can get different levels of intensity that work to different skin depths. An uneven skin tone, sun damage, even wrinkles, you can kiss them goodbye after a few chemical peel sessions.
Let’s talk about the elephant in the room here: plastic surgery and men. Since the 1980s, plastic surgery has been primarily marketed to women and there has been this perception that it is a “girl” thing. It isn’t something that a man would do, no sir. Thankfully, things have been changing rapidly in the last 10 years. Male plastic surgery has finally broken into the mainstream. More and more men are looking to plastic surgery procedures as a way to restore their youthful looks and give them back the confidence that comes with them. With male-focused plastic surgery procedures on the rise, there isn’t a single reason not to investigate these and other procedures, such as Botox, surgical neck and facelifts, pec and calf implants, or even surgical “male enhancement” — so, just remember, plastic surgery is for everyone. And men? It’s time for a makeover!
